4th of July - Independance Day (not from alien invasion)

Well, it's that time of year again. Where we, here in the States, celebrate the ousting of the English from the colonies they sacrificed so much to obtain. I can't feel bad for them though, and really, they have to be glad as well. Since we bailed them out of WWI and WWII that is. Without the U.S. the world would be a much less free place. Of course, it's not just roses and freedom that we've contributed. We also invented the car, the lightbulb, fast food and the flush toilet to name a few.

Of course, we have had our fair share of stinkers put out into the world. Off the top of my head, Disco, fast food (it all depends on how you look at it), and Paris Hilton. . . . . (again, depends on how your looking). Over-all though, I'd say that we have done more good than bad, so here's to the good old U. S. of A. She still looks pretty good for a 231 year old. May she have many happy returns and long years of life. God Bless America!

*sigh*

I have mixed feelings about disco. In some incarnations, it is the apex of crap. But on the other hand, some of what it inspired and evolved into is amazing.
